There was a magical atmosphere in the pilgrim church of St Martha’s for the first Dark Skies concert given by The Holywell Ensemble. The night was dry and clear with magnificent views across the lights twinkling in the Surrey Hills and Peter White’s moving Elegy was given an absolutely riveting performance.
The Oxford singers gave a first performance of Wither’s Rocking Hymn at their annual concert of the National Trust while in Guildford Cathedral a new carol for double choir and soprano soloist – Salve Puerule was given two performances.
The world famous Trinity Boys’ Choir will be giving the first performance of Peter White’s new work. Written for boys’ choir with clarinet, bassoon and cello it will be part of a concert celebrating the Trinity’s long relationship with this prestigious venue which has recently reopened after a multi-million pound refit.
